Arsenal officially announced that Swedish international Viktor Gyökeres has officially joined the team and the two sides have signed a long-term contract.
The 27-year-old striker will wear the No. 14 jersey and travel with the team to Asia for pre-season warm-up matches. In the past two seasons, Yokeres played for Sporting Lisbon, a Portuguese Super League giant, and scored 97 goals in 102 appearances, helping the team win the Portuguese Super League championship for two consecutive years and a Portuguese national cup.
Yokers has won the Portuguese Super League Golden Boot for two consecutive seasons and is one of the hottest shooters in European football. At the national team level, he has scored 12 goals in the past 17 games for Sweden and is in hot form.
Coach Mikel Arteta praised the new player: "We are very happy to welcome Victor to Arsenal. His goal-scoring ability is unquestionable. He has shown stable and efficient performances both for club and national team. He is fast, strong, and has a very threatening movement in the penalty area. He has all the elements required of a top striker."
Born in Stockholm, Yorke was born in the youth training of the Swedish club IF Bruma Pokana. He showed amazing shooting skills when he was a teenager. After joining the Premier League Brighton in 2018, he was loaned to Swansea, St. Pauli and Coventry, and officially transferred to Coventry in 2021.
In 2023, Yorke led the team to the final of the English Championship promotion play-offs, and then moved to Portugal, ushering in the outbreak of his career. This transfer still needs to complete the relevant regulatory procedures.
The entire Arsenal team warmly welcomes Yorke's arrival and looks forward to him injecting strong firepower into Arsenal's front line in the new season and helping the team to go further in multi-line operations.
