Bologna announced on its official website on Saturday that former Juventus' Italy international winger Federico Bernardeschi has joined the club as a free agent after leaving Toronto FC.
According to Bologna's official statement, Bernardeschi has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2026, with option to extend for a further year.
About Federico Bernardeschi
Bernardeschi, 31, was born in Carrara, Italy on February 16, 1994. He is 1.85 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger. He can also play as a left winger or attacking midfielder.
Bernardeschi joined the youth academy of his hometown club Atlético Carrara at the age of 6. The following year, he moved to a local football academy in Empoli. At the age of 9, he joined the Fiorentina youth academy. After being promoted to the first-team in the summer of 2013, he was immediately loaned-out to Crotone.
After returning to the club following the end of his loan spell the following summer, Bernardeschi completed his Fiorentina first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in September 2014.
During his three-year spell with I Viola, despite being plagued by injuries, Bernardeschi was still highly praised for his outstanding performances.
In April 2017, Bernardeschi joined Juventus for €40 million.
During his five-year spell with I Bianconeri, Bernardeschi won the Serie A three times, the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana twice with the club.
After leaving the club at the end of his contract in July 2022, Bernardeschi joined Toronto FC as a free agent to reunite with his national team teammates Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito.
During his three-year spell with Toronto FC, Bernardeschi played 99 times for the Major League Soccer (MLS) club in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing 16 assists.
