Atalanta announced on Monday that center forward Mateo Retegui will move to the Saudi League with immediate effect. He has signed a four-year contract with Qadisiyah, valid until June 30, 2029.

According to multiple media reports, the fixed fee for the deal is 60 million euros. As for the floating bonus, the media reported figures of 5 million, 8 million and 8.3 million euros.

Italian transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio further pointed out that Retegui's basic annual salary at Kardisias is 16 million euros. If various bonuses are included, his annual income can reach up to 20 million euros. In contrast, Retegui's annual salary at Atalanta is only 2.2 million euros.

The 26-year-old Retegui is the son of Argentine field hockey legend Carlos Retegui, but he chose to represent Italy at the national team level. He grew up in Boca's youth training and was loaned to Estudiantes de La Plata, Talleres and Tigre in his early career.

In July 2023, Retegui landed in Serie A for 15.2 million euros. He spent a year in Genoa, during which time he contributed 9 goals and 3 assists in 31 games in all lines.

In August 2024, Retegui joined Atalanta from Genoa for 20.9 million euros. So far, he has played 49 times for Atalanta, scored 28 goals and provided 9 assists.

At the national team level, Retegui has also performed well. He has played 20 times since being selected for the Italian team and scored a total of 6 goals.
