West Ham United Football Club has officially announced that Casper Ankergren has been appointed as the first team's head goalkeeping coach.

The 45-year-old Dane, who has many years of top goalkeeping and coaching experience, will be fully responsible for the team's goalkeeping training. Before taking office, Ankergren served as the goalkeeping director for the Danish powerhouse Brondby for four years.

During his time at Brondby, Ankergren successfully trained Mads Hermansson, who now plays for Leicester City, and Austrian national goalkeeper and current Brondby starter Patrick Penz, demonstrating his outstanding goalkeeper training ability.

As a player, Ankergren started his career at his hometown club Koege and then played for Brondby, winning the 2003 Danish Cup and the 2005 league and cup double with the team.

Ankergren then moved to England, joining Leeds United in 2007 and winning promotion in 2010. He then moved to Brighton and helped the team win the English First Division title with 20 clean sheets. He retired in 2017 and successfully transitioned to coaching.

At that time, Ankergren joined the Brighton coaching staff and worked with Ben Roberts, Chris Hughton, Graham Potter and others, accumulating rich first-team coaching experience.

Now returning to England, Ankergren will start a new chapter in his coaching career at West Ham United and work closely with new goalkeeping coach Linus Kandolin to further consolidate West Ham United's goalkeeping system.
