Champions League – Juventus defeated Benfica 2-0 at home with goals from Thuram and McKennie.

In the seventh round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, Juventus faced Benfica at the Allianz Stadium. With goals from Kefren Thuram and Weston McKennie in the second half, the Bianconeri ultimately won 2-0 at home.

Eight minutes into the first half, Hershey Sudakov attempted a long-range shot from near the edge of the penalty area, which was saved by Michele Di Gregorio. One minute later, Keinan Yildez cut inside from the left and curled a shot in response, but it was successfully saved by Anatoly Trubin.

Both sides then exchanged attacks. In the 18th minute, Manuel Locatelli made a wide pass down the right flank, and Yildez cut inside again before unleashing a long-range shot that went just wide. In the 23rd minute, Andreas Sheldrup intercepted the ball in the attacking third and played a through ball down the middle, where Sudakov's low shot was saved by Di Gregorio. In the 36th minute, Juventus took a corner from the right, and Fabio Miletti's header at the far post went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, McKennie crossed from the right side of the penalty area, and Jonathan David's header went wide of the left.

After the break, Juventus launched the first attack against Benfica. In the 54th minute, Pierre Kalulu crossed from the right wing into the penalty area, and McKennie's follow-up shot was blocked by Trubin's outstretched leg. In the 55th minute, David successfully intercepted Thomas Araujo in the attacking third and then passed the ball across to Thuram, who scored with a low shot, breaking the deadlock for Juventus. In the 64th minute, McKennie and David completed a series of passes before McKennie broke into the penalty area and slotted the ball home, extending the lead to 2-0.

However, Benfica launched a fierce counterattack after conceding two goals. In the 69th minute, Sudakov's corner kick from the left was headed by Frederick Osnes at the near post, hitting the right post. In the 79th minute, Brehme fouled Leandro Barreiro in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty after VAR intervention. However, Vaglis Pavlidis made a bizarre mistake while taking the penalty, causing the ball to go directly wide of the goal.

Neither side managed to score again. At the final whistle, Juventus defeated Benfica 2-0.
