Liverpool will travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray in the first leg of their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie. Argentine star Marcelo McAllister stated that inspiring teammates is a shared responsibility among players, and he aims to help the team achieve their Champions League title goal.

With goals from Robertson, Salah and Jones, Liverpool defeated Wolves 3-1 in the earlier FA Cup to advance to the quarterfinals, giving the players confidence for the Champions League.

When asked which Galatasaray player would pose the biggest challenge to him in midfield, Liverpool midfielder McAllister said, "If I had to pick one, I would say Lucas Torreira, because he's Uruguayan, and we all know how South American players play. He's a very tough player with great footwork, so I expect there will be a lot of exciting duels between us."

When discussing his teammate Szoboszlai's switching between defensive and midfield roles, McAllister shared, "I don't think it's that important for me to think about what his best playing style is, because what's more important is that he plays in a position where he feels comfortable."

“He has proven himself capable of playing in both positions, and he is an exceptional player. I enjoy playing with him. Of course, it would be even better if he were closer to me. I think he is in great form right now and is a very important player for the team.”

It's worth mentioning that the 27-year-old McAllister won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina and won the Premier League title last season.

McAllister said, "Winning the Champions League is definitely my dream right now, but this is also a World Cup year, so why not win it again? However, the Champions League is one of our most important goals this season. I think we have a team that can go very far and even win the title, but we have to prove it on the pitch, and I'm pretty sure tomorrow's game will be very tough."

“It’s been a challenging season for all of us, and we need to help Salah find the right approach. It’s our responsibility to help him reach his best, which we did last season, but we’ve had some difficulties this season. But he himself has said a few times that he’s still learning how to play with his new teammates. We’re all adapting to each other, and that’s the situation right now.”
