Barcelona got off to a winning start in the 2025/26 La Liga season opener on Saturday with a resounding 0-3 away victory over nine-man Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.


In the first half, Raphinha scored with a close-range header, and Torres controversially found the net from long range. Morlanes and Muriqi were both sent off for bringing down Yamal and kicking Peña in the head with a high kick. In the second half, Olmo's close-range shot hit the post. In a crucial moment, Yamal scored with a stunning long-range strike. In the end, Barcelona easily began their title defense with a resounding 0-3 away victory over nine-man Mallorca.


First Half


In the 7th minute, Lamine Yamal crossed into the box from the right win. Raphinha quickly followed up and with scored a close-range header in the box. Barcelona quickly broke the deadlock and took a 1-0 lead!


In the 21st minute, Mateu Morey passes horizontally from the right side of the box. Vedat Muriqi quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, strucked the ball with his left foot from the center of the box, but his was saved by Joan García.

His shot hit Martín Valjent and bounced off. After picking up the loose ball, Ferran Torres and fired a right-footed long shot from the edge of the box, which flew straight into the top right corner. As Valjent was unconscious and still lying on the ground at the time, Mallorca players immediately protested, but the VAR assistant referee still ruled the goal valid! This decision caused great controversy!


In the 33rd minute, Yamal was brought down by Mateu Morlanes while dribbling down the right wing. The referee immediately blew his whistle and sent him off with a red card, forcing Mallorca to finish the game with 10 men!


3 minutes later, Vedat Muriqi was given a yellow card for a high kick to García's head while battling for possession in the penalty area. However, the VAR assistant referee, intervened and, after personally reviewing the VAR, decided to upgrade the decision to a red card. Muriqi was sent off on the spot! Mallorca had to finish the match with nine men!


At the end of the first half, nine-man Mallorca trailed Barcelona 0-1 going into the halftime break.


Second Half


Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 58th minute, Eric García crossed from the edge of the box. the ball was initially cleared off not far away by Leo Roman cleared the ball. Dani Olmo rose high in the box and attempted with a header in the box, however his effort was saved by Roman.


11 minutes later, Raphinha passes horizontally from the edge of the byline at the right side of the box. Olmo quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball with his right-foot from very close distance in the box. Unfortunately, his shot hit the bottom right corner of the post and bounced off. Barcelona missed a golden opportunity to extend their lead!


In the 84th minute, Yamal passes horizontally from the right wing. Pedri got the ball and took a few steps before firing a left-footed long shot from outside the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Roman.


In the fourth minute of injury time, Gavi passes horizontally from the front. Lamine Yamal quickly followed up, got the ball, cuts inside and dribbled towards the edge of the penalty area, before firing a left-footed long shot, the ball flew straight into the top left corner of the net turning it into a wondergoal. Barcelona secured the victory at 0-3!


When the full time whistle is blown, Barcelona defeated nine-man Mallorca with a comfortable 0-3 away win.
