Bologna automaticially triggered goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski's automatic contract renewal clause after the player fulfilled matches played benchmark..

Bologna announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has triggered the automatic renewal clause in the contract of its Poland international goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski.

According to Bologna's official statement, Skorupski's automatic renewal clause was triggered after he reached the 25 league appearance mark of matches played for the club last season.

With the automatic renewal clause triggered, Skorupski's contract will be automatically extended by one year, with his new deal running until the summer of 2027. The new contract will also retain the option to automatically trigger the renewal clause upon reaching the required number of appearances.

Notably, this marks the third consecutive year that Skorupski's contract has been automatically extended.

About Lukasz Skorupski

Skorupski, 34, was born on May 5, 1991, in Zabrze, Poland. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Skorupski joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Gornik Zabrze, at a young age. He began playing for their reserve team in 2008 and was promoted to the first-team in February 2011 and was then loaned-out to non-league club Ruch Radzionków.

After returning from his loan-spell that summer, Skorupski completed his Gornik Zabrze first-team debut at the end of July 2011.

During his two-year spell at Gornik Zabrze, Skorupski's outstanding performances earned him recognition as one of the young Polish goalkeepers with highest potential in the popular football game FIFA's Career Mode.

In July 2013, Skorupski joined AS Roma for €890,000.

Although Skorupski played only as a substitute during his three-year spell at the Wolves, he earned praise for his professionalism and impressive performances in the few games he did play.

In July 2015, Skorupski was loaned-out to Empoli for two years.

During his loan spell at Empoli, Skorupski helped the club surprisingly reach the Coppa Italia round of 16s once.

In July 2018, Skorupski moved to Bologna for €9 million.

Since becoming a member of I Veltri, Skorupski has so far made 260 appearances for the Serie A club in all competitions, conceding 351 goals, keeping 68 clean sheets, and helping the club shockingly win the Coppa Italia once.
