Red Bull Group CEO Oliver Mintzlaff had dismissed rumours claiming that the group's Head of Global Football and former Liverpool legendary manager Jürgen Klopp is planning to resign due to stagnant development at Red Bull's affiliated clubs as "utter nonsense" on Friday.
Mintzlaff made these remarks in an interview with Sky Sports Germany.
He stated that the Group is 100% satisfied with Klopp's work and contributions, and that the online rumours are completely .
Mintzlaff said, "This is utter nonsense, completely unfounded. On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with Jürgen Klopp's work."
"He has devoted a tremendous amount of energy, maintained close communication with our coaches and sporting director, and continuously developed our Red Bull football philosophy. We firmly believe he is the best person for this job. We are focusing all our energy and attention on him."
On Thursday, February 24th, two Austrian media outlets, Salzburger Nachrichten (SN) and Laola1, falsely claimed that Klopp was planning to resign this summer due to the stagnation in the development of Red Bull-owned clubs, particularly Red Bull Salzburg.
The reports stated that after the former Liverpool legend's resignation, his position would likely be filled by Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace manager who had already confirmed his departure this summer.
Despite the dubious source of these rumours, the Hong Kong-based content farm Sinachat, known for its tendency mispread unverified information, has seized the opportunity to further hype up the reports by claiming that "Klopp becoming Real Madrid's new manager will eventually be a done deal!"
This marks the eighth time in a year that Klopp has been falsely claimied to be resigning as Red Bull Group's Head of Global Football to become Real Madrid's new manager.
Although Mintzlaff and Klopp himself have refuted the rumours seven times, persistent rumour-mongers continue to claim that him becoming the La Liga giant's new manager is "only a matter of time."
It's worth mentioning that Klopp himself has already stated that he has no intention of coaching again and will only consider returning to coach Liverpool full-time someday.
He has also pledged never to coach any Premier League club other than Liverpool.
