Crystal Palace Football Club officially announced that the team has reached an agreement with Argentina national team goalkeeper Walter Benítez to join the team, and the player will officially report on July 1.  

The 32-year-old goalkeeper will join Crystal Palace from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven when his current contract expires.  

Walter Benítez was born in General Jose de San Martín in northern Argentina. He started his career at Quilmes in Buenos Aires and played for Nice in Ligue 1 for six seasons.  

In his three seasons with PSV Eindhoven, the goalkeeper made 134 appearances, helping the team win the 2024 and 2025 Eredivisie titles, the 2023 Dutch Cup, and the 2022 and 2023 Johan Cruyff Shield, and kept 43 clean sheets.  

Walter Benítez also performed well in international competitions, playing 27 Champions League games for PSV Eindhoven. In June 2023, he was selected for the Argentina national team for the first time, and was selected for 10 of the subsequent 12 national team matches. He finally made his national team debut in the match against Costa Rica in March last year, helping the team win 3-1.
