Thomas Frank made his Tottenham Hotspur coaching debut, leading the team to a 2-0 victory over Reading in a pre-season warm-up match, taking a solid first step towards the new season.
In this match, Frank sent out a different lineup in the first and second half, with a total of 22 players taking turns to play, each getting 45 minutes of playing time. Two new players, Luka Vuskovic and Mo Kudus, showed their impressive strength in their debut.
In the second half, Vuskovic not only assisted Will Lankshear to break the deadlock, but also scored a goal himself. Kudus won praise from Frank and fans with his sharp breakthroughs and active performance.
After the game, Frank expressed his satisfaction in an interview: "Overall, this was a very fulfilling week. The training was intensive and the content was compact, and the players' condition was gradually improving. More importantly, there were no injuries, which was crucial."
"Every player got some playing time and the physical training goals were achieved. At the same time, we kept a clean sheet, which is the foundation of any team that wants to win. The two goals came from set pieces, which is also the part we have been focusing on in recent practice."
At the end of the game, facing Reading's counterattack, Tottenham players showed the results of their training, blocking shots many times, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario also made a key save, successfully defending the goal.
"Offense requires courage, but defense also requires a sense of responsibility. We want to be a comprehensive and disciplined team," Frank added.
