Sporting Clube de Portugal announced on its official website on Friday that it has extended the contract of its Portugal international attacking midfielder, Francisco Trincão.

According to Sporting Clube de Portugal's official statement, Trincão has signed on a new long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Trincão, who was interviewed by the Sporting Clube de Portugal official website again, said: "It feels fantastic. We've been discussing this for a long time, and now it's finally happened. I'm very happy to continue playing for Sporting Clube de Portugal."

"The fans, the stadium, the club, and the love I've felt—these have continued to this day, and it's these that made me decide to stay at Sporting Clube de Portugal."

About Francisco Trincão

The 26-year-old Trincão was born on December 29, 1999, in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. He is 1.83 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a left winger or right winger.

Trincão played for the youth academy of his hometown club Vianese as well as Porto's  youth academy as a child. He joined Sporting Clube de Braga's youth academy in 2011, started playing for their B team in April 2016, before completing his Sporting Clube de Braga first-team debut by coming  on as a substitute in a Taça da Liga match in December 2018.

During his year-and-a-half spell with Sporting Clube de Braga, Trincão won the Taça da Liga once.

In late January 2020, Trincão joined Barcelona for €31 million.

During his time at Barcelona, Trincão won the Copa del Rey.

In July of the following year, Trincão was loaned-out to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In July 2022, Trincão was loaned to Sporting Clube de Portugal, with his ownership rights being exercised permanently in January of the following year for €7 million.

Since joining the Leões, Trincão has made 195 appearances for Sporting Clube de Portugal in all competitions, scoring 45 goals and providing 50 assists, winning the Portuguese Primeira Liga league title twice and the Taça de Portugal once.
