Arteta continues to pursue big goals as he celebrates his 300th game as Arsenal manager

Arsenal will host West Ham United in a London derby against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Matchday 7 of the 2025/26 Premier League season. This will be Arteta's 300th game as Arsenal manager. The manager expressed his immense honor and stated that he will continue to pursue significant goals with the team.

In the sixth round of the Premier League, Arsenal came from behind to defeat Newcastle 2-1 thanks to goals from Merino and Gabriel. In addition, Arsenal also defeated Olympiacos 2-0 in the Champions League earlier this month, securing their second consecutive victory.

Speaking about reaching the milestone of 300 games in charge of Arsenal, Arteta shared: “It’s a huge number and I feel incredibly honoured. I’ve really enjoyed working with the people around me. Of course, we all know that in this job, if we want to continue, we have to win a lot of games.”

"While we're doing all that, we also have to make sure we enjoy our careers because, for me, it's some of the best experiences in life, and we have to try to balance that."

It is worth mentioning that Arteta's win rate in coaching is as high as 58%. However, Arteta said, "Everyone mentioned the win rate, which is the highest among Arsenal coaches, but even with such a win rate, we still haven't won a major championship, which shows the level of the game today."

"That's why we have to keep working hard to do what we've done in the past to a higher standard. The requirements are much higher now, and it's much more difficult, but that's what we have to strive for."

Arteta continued, "The immediate goal is to win this game and the rest will happen naturally. When I started coaching on the first day, I had no idea how long I would stay in this position or who I would be working with. The only thing I can say is thank you. I really enjoyed every minute here and hope there will be more moments like this in the future."

In addition, Arsenal lost to West Ham at home last season with a score of 0-1. Arteta said, "We hope to continue playing the way we do now and control the tempo of the game, and this will be a crucial match. We have lost to them at home in the past two seasons, and this must be corrected, and tomorrow is an opportunity to prove it again."

"Tomorrow's game will also be difficult. They have a new manager and we know Nuno very well and how he sets up his team, so we expect it to be a very intense game."
