Jorginho released a video on Wednesday, confirming that he will end his nearly two-year career with the Gunners after his contract expires this summer. He has reached a three-year agreement with Brazilian giants Flamengo and is expected to join as a free agent before the start of the Club World Cup on June 14.
In his farewell video, Jorginho fondly recalled his time at Arsenal. He said: "You know, a season is sometimes not just about football. It carries countless moments, characters and growth."
"It makes you feel like you belong to something bigger than yourself. When I joined Arsenal, I didn't just join a club, I joined a family, a team full of desire, passion and purpose."
"I gave it my all. Every day. Every game. Not just for the results, but for this jersey. For the fans."
"Your support means a lot to me. Whether I'm starting or on the bench, you always make me feel valued and loved. This is extremely rare in the football world and I will never forget it. Now, it's time to say goodbye, or say, 'see you later'."
"It's always hard to say goodbye when a place feels like home. But I will leave with my head held high and my heart filled with gratitude. I would like to thank my teammates for their trust and encouragement, the coaches, staff and all the people behind the scenes for their support on and off the court, and for the love and warmth they have always given me."
"Finally, thank you to the fans for your cheers and trust. Thank you, Arsenal."
Jorginho was born in Imbituba in southern Brazil in 1991 and joined Verona for youth training at the age of 15. He has played for Verona, Sambonifacion, Napoli and Chelsea, winning the Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup, Champions League, Club World Cup, European Super Cup and Europa League once.
In January 2023, Jorginho joined Arsenal from Chelsea for 11.3 million euros. He has never been able to establish a core position in the Gunners. So far, he has only played 79 times, scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists.
