Ajax head coach Francesco Farioli resigned after the club lost the advantage to win the Eredivisie title..

Ajax announced on its official website on Monday that its Italian head coach Francesco Farioli decided to resign after the club lost the advantage to win the Eredivisie title.

According to Ajax's official statement, Farioli informed the management of his decision to resign after careful consideration.

As part of this personnel change, members of Farioli's coaching staff, assistant coaches Daniele Cavalletto, Felipe Sanchez Mateos and goalkeeping coach Jarkko Tuomisto will also leave the club.

Regarding the decision to resign, Farioli explained sadly through Ajax's official website: "My Ajax journey began about a year ago at De Toekomst (Ajax training base), with the goal of leading Ajax back to where it should be."

"Finally, my journey will end at the Johan Cruyff Stadium after leading Ajax back to the biggest stage of European football, the Champions League. In the process, we always hope to inject new vitality into the entire Ajax community and share positive work and thinking with all levels of the club."

"As the first non-Dutch head coach of Ajax since 1998 and the first Italian head coach in the club's history, I am deeply honoured. My team and I have met this huge challenge with respect, responsibility, enthusiasm and determination."

"Throughout the season, we felt the respect and support of Ajax fans, which meant a lot to me and my team. We experienced incredible and unforgettable moments together, a unique, intense and exciting season, we shared belief, fighting spirit and pride, and finally, achieved our goals and fulfilled our mission. "

"The management and I have common goals for the future of Ajax, but we have different visions and timelines on how to work and operate in different ways to achieve these goals. Given these differences in the principles and foundations of the project, I deeply feel that this is the best time to part ways. "

It is worth mentioning that Ajax once led the Eredivisie table by 12 points this season, but because the team lost points one match after another, the club eventually lost their advantage and was overtaken by PSV Eindhoven, missing the advantage of winning the title again.
