Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said at a press conference that even with an incredibly difficult schedule ahead, the players must show determination and resilience on the pitch and continue to earn the support and respect of the fans.
Newcastle United, nicknamed the "Magpies," will travel to Tottenham Hotspur, nicknamed the "Lilywhites," for their next Premier League match. In the last round, Newcastle lost 2-3 to Brentford after goals from Sven Botman and Vicente Guimarães.
After suffering three consecutive defeats, Newcastle United are currently ranked 12th in the standings with 33 points.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said, "I think it's always a difficult time when you can't get the results you want. I don't think the team's performance was particularly bad. Statistically, we were still very competitive in every game, but the results obviously didn't match that."
"It's been a tough stretch of play, and it will continue for us, but it's precisely at times like these that we all need to demonstrate attitude, determination, resilience, and an awareness of the importance of this cause. And that, most importantly, needs to be shown on the pitch."
Eddie Howe emphasized, "Without unity, everything will be lost. We remain united, and that's the most important thing. Even last week, the fans gave us incredible support again, which is never taken for granted; we must earn the fans' support."
“We must continue to earn the respect of our fans, and the only way to do that is to look at how we approach the next game and everything we convey through our body language. The fans will respond to that, and we must make sure it’s a positive response. I’m confident about that and I’m very grateful for the fans’ unwavering support.”
Furthermore, when discussing how the team can improve, Eddie Howe said, "We have to improve our defense. Looking back at recent games, our defense wasn't ideal, which directly led to our losses. It sounds simple, but it's not always easy to execute. We have to find ways to address our defensive weaknesses."
"Of course, we also need to be more efficient on offense, and these two things complement each other. Our defense is not good enough, and at the same time we lack decisiveness on the other end, which is a bad combination and a major problem we are currently facing."
