Zenit Saint-Petersburg announced on their official website on Monday that former Aston Villa Colombian international striker wonderkid Jhon Durán has joined the club on-loan from Al-Nassr.
According to the Russian Premier League giants' official statement, Durán will play for the club on-loan until the end of the season, and the loan agreement does not include any buyout clause.
About Jhon Durán
Jhon Durán, who is currently only 22 years old, was born on December 13, 2003, in Medellín, Colombia. He is 1.85 meters tall and plays as a center forward.
Durán joined Envigado's youth academy at the age of 11 and completed his Envigado first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in February 2019.
In January 2021, Durán joined Chicago Fire for £1.5 million.
During his time with Chicago Fire, Durán's outstanding performances led the British newspaper The Guardian to name him one of the 60 best wonderkids in South American football.
In January 2023, Durán joined Aston Villa for £17.75 million.
During his year and a half with the Villans, Durán received praise for helping the Premier League dark horse score in their Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
On the 2025 winter transfer window deadline day, Durán joined Al-Nassr for £64 million.
During his time at Al-Nassr, despite decent performances, he was forced to accept a loan spell due to Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané consistently occupying key positions, coupled with the Saudi Pro League giants' inability to free up a foreign player registration slot.
In July of the same year, Durán was loaned-out to Fenerbahçe.
During the first half of the season, Durán made 21 appearances for the Turkish Süper Lig giants in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists.
