Liverpool announced on their official website on Wednesday that their first-team English set-piece coach, Aaron Briggs, had been sacked effective immediately.
According to Liverpool's official statement, the club is very grateful for Briggs' contributions, especially his role in helping the team win their second Premier League title last season, a feat that will be remembered.
However, due to the team's worrying set-piece defense and goals conceding issues this season, the management had to make the difficult decision to part ways with Briggs. Nevertheless, everyone at Liverpool wishes him all the best for the future.
Furthermore, according to reports from the Liverpool ECHO, the Liverpool coaching staff had long been unhappy with Briggs' declining performance, with head coach Arne Slot having publicly complained on several occasions in press conferences about the team's inadequate set-piece defense, leading to numerous goals conceded.
Several British media outlets' team correspondents had also repeatedly expressed concerns about Briggs' declining performance, and now, as the Reds approach 2026, they have finally decided to part ways with him.

About Aaron Briggs
The 38-year-old Briggs was born on May 9, 1987, in England. He is one of the few young coaches to hold both analyst and coaching licenses.
Briggs served as Manchester City's chief match data analyst from 2011 to 2017, and briefly as assistant coach for their U23s team in January 2018.
In August 2020, Briggs was appointed assistant coach and match data analyst at Monaco, during which time he was also appointed as a match data analyst by FIFA during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
After the World Cup, Briggs was appointed assistant coach and set-piece coach at Wolfsburg in the summer of 2022, but was sacked after a year and a half.
After leaving Wolfsburg, Briggs was appointed as a match data analyst by UEFA.
In the summer of 2024, Briggs replaced Portuguese coach Vítor Matos as Liverpool's Elite Development Coach.
Last August, Briggs was promoted to the role of set-piece coach, and his previous position was taken over by Brazilian coach Luiz Fernando Iubel.
