The Athletic's resident renowned English Manchester United team correspondent Laurie Whitwell, reported on Tuesday that the club's Denmark international left wing-back wonderkid, Patrick Dorgu, is expected to be sidelined for at least 10 weeks due to hamstring injury.
According to the report, after Manchester United's 3-2 victory over league leaders Arsenal, Dorgu, who was injured in the match, underwent an injury scan, but the results are still pending.
Dorgu, who scored a long-range goal in that game, unfortunately strained his left hamstring while chasing a long ball in the second half, and was seen lying on the ground in pain, pressing his leg.
This injury means the Danish wonderkid will miss at least the next eight matches for Manchester United, and is expected to return on April 11th against Leeds United.
Regarding Dorgu's injury, interim manager Michael Carrick had said that he hoped the player only had cramps causing leg discomfort and would recover in a few days after the match against Arsenal.
Now, with the devastating news that Dorgu has pulled a hamstring and will be out for 10 weeks, this is undoubtedly a major blow to Carrick and the Red Devils, who are eager to capitalize on their momentum and widen the gap with arch-rivals Liverpool.
Since Carrick took over, the left wing-back, signed by former Portuguese manager Ruben Amorin from Lecce for £25 million on the deadline day of last year's winter transfer window, has been played as a left winger and delivered an excellent performances in the Manchester derby against Manchester City.
Dorgu will become the second Manchester United player, after Netherlands international defender Matthijs de Ligt, to be sidelined for an extended period due to injury.
Since joining the Red Devils, Dorgu has made 44 appearances for the Premier League giants in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists, and has helped the club reach the Europa League final once.
