Marseille issued a statement on Friday announcing the signing of 22-year-old English central defender Conrad Jaden Egan-Riley on a free transfer basis. According to RMC reporter Fabrice Hawkins, the two sides signed a four-year contract.
Conrad Jaden Egan-Riley came from Manchester City's youth training and made his debut for the first team in the League Cup on September 21, 2021. He moved to Burnley as a free agent in July 2022, and was subsequently loaned to Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League and PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie.
In July 2024, Egan Riley returned to Burnley after the expiration of his loan. So far, he has played 43 times for Burnley, scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist, and was successfully selected into the best team of the 2024/25 season of the English Championship.
Egan Riley's contract with Burnley expires on the 30th of this month. Fabrice Hawkins pointed out that West Ham United had made a new offer in the final stage of the transfer to try to recruit Egan Riley. However, Egan Riley was impressed by Roberto De Zerbi and Medhi Benatia and made it clear that he only wanted to join Marseille.
