Bayern Munich officially announced on Thursday that they have extended Serge Gnabry's contract. According to the official announcement, the new contract will extend from June this year to June 30, 2028.

Several German media outlets, including Bild, have confirmed that Gnabry has chosen to stay with the team on a pay cut. His previous annual salary was a whopping €18 million, but after the contract extension, his salary structure will be directly linked to individual performance. In the best-case scenario, Gnabry's annual salary could reach as high as €16 million.

The 30-year-old Gnabry primarily plays as a winger. He received his early training at Wesach, Dietzengen, Hemingen, Feuerbach, Stuttgart, and Arsenal. He made his professional debut for the Gunners on September 26, 2012, in the third round of the English League Cup, and subsequently played for West Bromwich Albion and Werder Bremen.

In July 2017, Gnabry transferred from Werder Bremen to Bayern Munich for €8 million. He gradually established himself as a top winger at Bayern, making 311 appearances to date, scoring 100 goals and providing 69 assists. With the team, he has won one Champions League title, one UEFA Champions League title, one FIFA Club World Cup title, six Bundesliga titles, one UEFA Super Cup title, two German Cup titles, and five German Super Cup titles.

Gnabry also made 57 appearances for the German national team, including in the 2020 European Championship and the 2022 World Cup. During this time, he contributed 25 goals and 10 assists for Germany.

Following the contract extension, Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl stated: "Sergi Gnabry has grown into an absolute pillar of the Bayern team, playing a crucial role both on the pitch and in the locker room. He has won every honor with the club, yet he still craves more. This makes him a role model for everyone. He is a representative figure of Bayern."

Bayern Munich's sporting director, Christoph Freund, added: "Serge Gnabry's contributions to the team during the match were evident. He is very complete in attack, fast, and has excellent ball control and shooting skills. We are very happy that he continues to play for Bayern. With his demeanor and character, he also plays a key role in the team."

Gnabry himself said: "I am very happy to continue to play for Bayern for many more years. The contract renewal negotiations have always gone smoothly. When I joined Bayern, I never thought I would stay here for ten years. My goal is to maintain the current good momentum. We are a real team and can achieve great things. The reason for my contract renewal is the team, the coach, the whole club, the fans, the city and the environment here. I feel at home in Bayern."
