Paris Saint-Germain announced on Saturday that French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has joined from Lille on a five-year contract that runs until June 30, 2030.

According to L'Equipe and other French media, the base fee for the deal is €40 million. If variable clauses are included, Paris Saint-Germain will have to pay Lille a maximum transfer fee of €55 million.

For Paris Saint-Germain, Chevalier's arrival is intended to replace the departing Gianluigi Donnarumma as the starting goalkeeper. "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to welcome Lucas Chevalier to our family," said Nasser Al-Khelaifi upon the signing. "Lucas is one of the top goalkeepers in France and Europe, and his arrival is an excellent reinforcement for our squad – we will continue to focus on long-term development as a team."

The 23-year-old Chevalier, a graduate of Lille's youth academy, was loaned to Valenciennes early in his career to gain experience. He made his professional debut for Valenciennes on September 18, 2021, and has since played 30 Ligue 2 matches for the club.

In June 2022, Chevalier returned to Lille after his loan period expired. He then gradually grew into a starting goalkeeper in Lille, making 127 appearances so far, completing 44 clean sheets and winning the 2020/21 Ligue 1 championship with the team.

After completing the transfer, Chevalier said: "I am a child who is living a dream. I have always wanted to play at the highest level. I want to thank club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, coach Luis Enrique and his coaching staff, as well as everyone who has worked hard to make my move to Paris Saint-Germain possible. I am very happy to be here. I will wear the Paris jersey with passion and ambition."

According to official news, Chevalier will wear the No. 30 jersey at Paris Saint-Germain.
