Benfica defeated Nice with a 0-2 away win in the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League qualifiers at the Allianz Riviera on Wednesday.

In the first half, Pavlidis's close-range shot was spectacularly saved by the goal line, while Moffi's volley hit the side netting. In the second half, Ivanović's half-volley found the net, and Luís found the net with a long-range shot. Ultimately, Benfica won 0-2 away against Nice.

First Half

In the 10th minute, Morgan Sanson passed back from the left side of the box. Melvin Bard quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, fired a left-footed long shot from outside the penalty area, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

Nine minutes later, Benfica was awarded a free kick. Richard Rios took the free kick from outside the penalty area and directly shot with his right foot, but heisshot was saved by Yevhann Diouf.

In the 30th minute, Tom Louchet passes horizontally from the left wing. Hicham Boudaoui quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before turning and firing a long-range right-footed shot from 45 yards outside the penalty area, but his shot went just wide of the left side of the post.

Nine minutes later, Andreas Schjeldrup's back-heel pass from the edge of the byline at the left side of the byline was met by Vangelis Pavlidis, who quickly followed up with a left-footed shot from a very close distance in the boxnt of the goal, but his shot was spectacularly saved by Diouf just off the goal line. Benfica missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock first.

In the 40th minute, Badredine Bouanani passes horizontally from the left wing. Terem Moffi, quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the left side of the box past Nicolas Otamendi before volleying with his left foot, but his shot ended up sidenetting at the left side of the post.

At the end of the first half, Nice and Benfica entered the halftime break goalless.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 50th minute, Moffi passes horizontally from the right wing. Jonathan Clauss quickly followed up, got the ball, cuts inside and dribbled into the center of the box before volleying with his left-foot, but his shot was saved by Anatoliy Trubin.

Three minutes later, Frederik Aursnes crossed into the box from the right wing. Franjo Ivanović quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, fired a left-footed half-volley into the bottom right corner of the net from a very close distance in the box. Benfica broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead! Ivanović, making his debut in this match, managed to score his first goal for Benfica!

In the 56th minute, Nice launched a quick counterattack. Bouanani intercepted the ball and passes back from the front. Boudaoui quickly followed up, got the ball, cuts inside and took a few steps before firing a long-range right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

Six minutes later, Enzo Barrenechea made a straight pass from the front. Ivanović quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot was saved by Diouf.

In the 71st minute, Nice was awarded a corner kick. Kojo Peprah Oppong took the corner by crossing it into the box. The pass was initially headed and cleared off not far away by Otamendi. After quickly following up and picking up the loose ball, Boudaoui took a long-range right-footed shot from outside the penalty area, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

In the 88th minute, Samuel Dahl passes horizontally from the left wing. Florentino Luís quickly followed up, stopped the ball and adjusted his angle before firing a long-range right-footed shot from outside the box. The ball flew into the bottom left corner, beyond Diouf's reach. Benfica secured the victory at 0-2!

When the final whislte is blown, Benfica defeated Nice with a 0-2 away win.
