On September 20th , according to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, the Boston Celtics signed former Suns forward Jalen Bridges as training camp is about to begin. The 6-foot-1 forward joined the NBA last year and played for the Phoenix Suns as a two-way player. Now he will have a new opportunity with the Celtics.
The Celtics currently have 12 standard contracts, and the contracts of Neemias Queta and Jordan Walsh will not be fully guaranteed until the opening game, which means there is still some room for adjustment in the team's roster. Bridges will compete with other players signed in training camp.
After entering the NBA , Bridges had limited opportunities with the Suns' first team, appearing in just eight games, averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in 3.8 minutes per game . However , he performed well with the Valley Suns in the Development League, averaging 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 31 games while shooting 42.5% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range .
Bridges played briefly for the Celtics in this year's Summer League, averaging 8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, while also displaying some defensive and help defense. Despite his limited experience, his forward size and outside shooting potential are exactly what the Celtics are looking for in their current roster.
