Former Netherlands goalkeeper Tim Krüll officially announced on Tuesday that he will retire from professional football from now on.
"After 20 unforgettable years in professional football, I have decided to officially retire," the statement read. "I would like to take a moment to reflect on my career."

The 37-year-old Klür made his debut at Newcastle United and has played for Newcastle United, Falkirk, Carlisle United, Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Brighton, Norwich City and Luton Town in his career. During this period, he has kept 120 clean sheets in 437 matches across all competitions, including eight in the Europa League, 222 in the Premier League and 101 in the Championship.
However, Kluer's most commendable feat was saving two consecutive penalties in the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals, helping the Netherlands eliminate Costa Rica and advance to the semi-finals. According to official statistics, he played 15 times for the Dutch national team between 2011 and 2022, and kept six clean sheets.
