American reporter: The Warriors are expected to explore the trade market for Cuminga in the coming weeks.

According to ESPN reporter Anthony Slater, the Golden State Warriors are expected to explore the trade market for Jonathan Cuminga in the coming weeks. He also noted that the possibility of the two sides parting ways before the trade deadline remains high.

Cuminga played 17 regular season games for the Warriors this season, averaging 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 43.8% and a three-point percentage of 32.0%. However, his playing time gradually decreased as the season progressed, and coupled with missing seven games due to patellar tendinitis in both knees, his performance declined significantly after his return.

In yesterday's game where the Warriors defeated the Chicago Bulls 123-91, Cuminga was completely dropped from the rotation. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr explained, "That's how the league works. There's always someone vying for your spot. That's why everyone has to give their all and contribute their best to the team."

However, most people do not agree with Kerr's explanation. It is widely believed that Kuminga's drop out of the rotation indicates an imminent parting of ways. Kuminga just signed a two-year, $48.5 million contract with the Warriors in October, and will be eligible for trades starting January 15th.

Regarding Cuminga's potential destination, ESPN reporter Mark J. Spears offered his opinion: the Sacramento Kings remain interested in Cuminga. He further revealed that if trade negotiations resume, the Kings are not expected to offer the previously mentioned first-round draft pick. Additionally, trade negotiations may involve players like Malik Monk, but specific details have not yet been finalized.

The 23-year-old Cuminga, the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft, has played 275 regular season games for the Warriors, averaging 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, with a 50.3% field goal percentage and a 33.1% three-point percentage. He has also played 34 playoff games, averaging 7.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game, and won the 2022 NBA championship with the team.
