Borussia Dortmund secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Lille in a pre-season friendly match played at the neutral venue of the Hemberg Stadion in Iserlohn, Germany on Saturday.

In the first half, Groß netted a rebound, Sabitzer's long-range shot hit the crossbar, and Guirassy scored with a penalty. In the second half, Haraldsson volleyed home, and Adeyemi chipped the ball into the empty net. In a crucial moment, former BVB player Meunier slotted home a shot. Ultimately, Dortmund secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Lille.

First Half

In the 13th minute, Dortmund secured a deadly corner kick opportunity. Julian Ryerson took the corner by crossing it into the box. Rami Bensebaini rose high and attempted with a header in the box, however his effort was initially saved and cleared off not far away by Lucas Chevalier. Pascal Groß quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, fired a powerful right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net from a very close distance in the box,. Dortmund broke the deadlock early and took a 1-0 lead!

Two minutes later, Dortmund launched a swift counterattack. Ryerson intercepted the ball and passes horizontally from the right wing. Serhou Guirassy stopped the ball, turned, and volleyed a left-footed shot from the right side of the box, but his shot went just slightly wide of the right post.

In the 19th minute, Groß passed back from the right wing. Marcel Sabitzer quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, fired a strong left-footed shot from the right side of the box, but his shot was saved by Chevalier.

Four minutes later, Guirassy passed back from the center of the box, Sabitzer quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a right-footed long shot from the edge of the box, but his shot was saved by the onrushing Chevalier.

In the 25th minute, Jobe Bellingham's horizontal pass from the front was met by Sabitzer, who took a few steps before taking a right-footed long shot from the edge of the box. Unfortunately, the ball hit the crossbar in the top right corner. Dortmund missed a golden opportunity to score again!

In the 39th minute, Daniel Svensson was unceremoniously knocked down by Benjamin André while competing for a high ball in the box. The referee immediately blew the whistle to award Dortmund a penalty! Guirassy took the penalty and his right-footed shot went in, extending Dortmund's lead to 2-0! The Guinean international striker who scored four goals in the Club World Cup, scored again, continuing his hot form!

At the end of the first half, Dortmund led Lille by 2-0 at halftime.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. Lille launched a quick counterattack. In the 62nd minute, Alexander Meyer made a mistake while clearing the ball in front of his own goal. André quickly followed up, intercepted the ball, took a few steps, and then shot with his right foot from very close range in the box. His shot was initially saved and cleared off not far away by Meier. Félix Correia quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, volleyed the ball with his right foot from the left side of the box, but his shot went slightly just slightly wide of the right post, Dortmund escaped from a catastrophic sloppy play!

Four minutes later, Soriba Diaoune made a through diagonal pass from near the midfield center circle. After succesfully beating the offside trap, Hákon Arnar Haraldsson quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the center of the box before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner of the net against the onrushing Meyer with a right-footed shot, Lille pulled a goal back at 2-1!

In the 68th minute, Joseph Boyamba made a through diagonal pass from the left wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, Karim Adeyemi quickly followed up, got the ball, then dribbled into the left side of the box, dribbled past the onrushing Arnaud Bodart before cleverly chipping the ball into the bottom right corner of the open net with his left-foot. Dortmund regained their two-goal lead at 3-1!

Three minutes later, Lille was awarded a free kick. Nabil Bentaleb took the tactical free kick from outside the penalty area. Afrer taking over, André Gomes fired a right-footed long shot from outside the box, but this shot was saved by Meyer.

In the 82nd minute, Ousmane Touré made a through diagonal pass from the right wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, former Dortmund player Thomas Meunier, quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball past the onrushing Meyer with his left foot into the bottom left corner of the empty net from the right side of the box, to help Lille pull another goal back at 3-2. However, it was too late!

When the final is blown, Borussia Dortmund narrowly defeated Lille by 3-2.
