On Thursday local time, Atletico Madrid confirmed several personnel changes: while renewing the contract of Argentine right winger Giuliano Simeone, the club also finalized the transfer of Italian striker Giacomo Laspadori.
According to official sources, Giuliano Simeone's new contract will extend from 2028 to June 30, 2030. His release clause has been increased from €100 million to €500 million, and his salary is commensurate with his status as a regular starter.
As Diego Simeone's third son, Giuliano joined Atlético Madrid's youth academy from River Plate in 2019. The 23-year-old was initially loaned to Real Zaragoza and Alavés before finally establishing himself in Atlético's first team in the 2024/25 season.
To date, Giuliano has made 78 appearances for Atlético Madrid, scoring 8 goals and providing 16 assists. He, along with Julián Álvarez, Pablo Barrios, Alejandro Baena, and others, is considered by Atlético Madrid to be a cornerstone of the team's future.
On the same day that Giuliano renewed his contract, Atlético Madrid and Lazio reached an agreement on the transfer of Giacomo Laspadori. They will receive a base fee of €22 million from the deal, plus €1 million in bonuses.
It is understood that Laspadori will wear the number 18 jersey for Lazio. He has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Lazio, valid until June 30, 2030.
The 25-year-old Laspadori came through Sassuolo's youth academy and joined Napoli in August 2022 on a loan-to-buy deal. He played for Napoli for three seasons, making 109 appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists, and winning two Serie A titles with the team.
In July 2025, Laspadori transferred to Atletico Madrid for €22 million. His playing time at Atletico has been relatively limited, with only 15 appearances to date, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
As he embarks on a new journey, Laspadori also bids farewell to Atletico Madrid in a statement: "Atletico Madrid fans, I just want to say thank you for the time we've spent together these past few months!"
"It is a great honor for me to wear such a meaningful red and white jersey. Although the time was short, it will always be a proud part of my life."
"To the club, the fans, everyone who has poured their love and dedication into the club, my teammates, the head coach and coaching staff, the fitness and medical team, thank you for everything I have learned, and thank you for every moment we have shared together."
“Every day, in every training session, in every game, I always give my all for the team. My teammates and I fight side by side, and I believe a bright future lies ahead.”
