According to well-known NBA reporter Jack Fisher on Thursday, there has been no substantial progress in Quentin Grimes' contract renewal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

"There's no market right now that would force Philadelphia to make a truly compelling offer for Quentin Grimes," he stated explicitly on "Bleacher Report." "Multiple sources within the 76ers, when asked about this, have stated that Quentin Grimes is their top priority for roster improvement. They're committed to bringing Quentin Grimes back, and the rest is just a matter of money."

Quentin Grimes, 25, plays shooting guard and entered the NBA with the 25th pick in the first round of the draft in July 2021. He has played for the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Dallas Mavericks before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2025.

According to ESPN, Grimes played in 75 regular-season games for the Mavericks and 76ers last season, averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 46.7% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. Due to injuries to stars like Joel Embiid, Paul George, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain, and Tyrese Maxey, the 76ers finished 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 24-58 record.

After the 2024-25 season, Grimes officially became a restricted free agent. His annual salary expectations were $20 million to $25 million, but the 76ers did not approve him.

Jack Fisher concluded by pointing out that there are rumors that Grimes may accept a one-year qualifying offer of $8.7 million. He also said that Grimes' situation may remain stagnant until September or even October.
