Crissencio Somerville was delighted to have completed the full 90 minutes

Crisencio Somerville completed his first full 90 minutes in nine months. It has been a challenging and rewarding period for the 23-year-old West Ham United winger. A serious hamstring injury forced him to miss the match in January, but he has since recovered and returned to action at the start of this season.

The player has made four appearances and provided two assists. With his fitness gradually returning, he played the entire match in Saturday's 2-0 away defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League. Although Crisencio Somerville lamented the loss against the league leaders, he was pleased with the significant progress he had made in his recovery.

Crisencio Somerville said : “ I’m really grateful to be back with the team and to complete my first 90 minutes. I love every moment on the pitch, so I’m grateful every time I take to the field. Obviously, we all wanted to win, so losing to Arsenal was disappointing. But I’m going to stay positive and keep going, and we’ll start again after the international match day and strive for a better performance.”

“Also, I’m very grateful to the fans for their support and faith in me. Obviously, I come from Leeds United and I was injured at the beginning of last season and my opportunities were limited, so you might not have seen much of me. But I’m very happy to have everyone’s support and I hope to repay them with my performances.”

Despite Arsenal's struggles and lack of space in attack, Criscencio Somerville has quickly made an impact this season. His two assists off the bench against Nottingham Forest underlined his commitment to fitness.

He said : " I have been working hard with the physiotherapists and all the members of the Rush Green team in training. My goal is to return to the field, let everyone see my true strength, and let myself understand the level I can reach. Although we have limited possession time in the game, I tried my best to make an impact when the opportunities arise. As I said, we will continue to work hard and strive to perform better in the second half."

As the Premier League enters its two-week break for the second international break of the season, Criscencio Somerville says he is relishing the time to adapt to the tactical philosophy of new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The player is pleased with his first week under the Portuguese manager and is confident the team will see the positive results of that adjustment period reflected in their home game against Brentford.

He added : " We have a new coach, which means a fresh start. I think the team needs time to adapt to his tactical style. Once we fully grasp it, we will definitely perform well under his leadership. We will continue to work hard and continue to adjust at halftime, and strive to prove our strength to everyone in the game against Brentford."
