The 26-year-old Manchester United new signing Cunha will wear the No. 10 jersey to play for the team, and the striker said in an interview that he hopes to help the team with goals and assists.
Cunha, who is from Brazil, previously played for Wolves and contributed 15 goals and 6 assists for Wolves in the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Talking about how it feels to go from being an opponent to being part of the team, Cunha shared, “I think it’s always a little different when you’re an opponent. We joke around in the dressing room and talk about past games, especially the game against Mazraoui, where it felt like I was playing one-on-one with him every time. We also talked a lot about other games, including last season. Everyone was very friendly to me and gave me a very warm welcome.”
"Everything here makes me excited, like a dream. I hope that once we start playing, I can adapt faster and get back to my old feeling on the court."
Cunha also emphasized, "I am very excited about wearing this jersey and achieving everything I want to do. It must be a very special feeling when I walk into the locker room for the first time and see my jersey hanging there."
Regarding wearing the No. 10 jersey, Cunha said, "This is something that every player dreams of. I can name many players who have worn this jersey. It's too easy. The first person I think of when I see this jersey is Rooney. I grew up watching him play football."
"I also swapped jerseys with Rashford and it's still hanging in my house. Of course, we all know that many players have worn this jersey, such as Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ibrahimovic. It's not just a dream to wear this jersey, the history behind it makes me feel that it is a wonderful honor to have such an opportunity."
Cunha also said, "In fact, no matter what number jersey I wear, it is an honor to play for Manchester United, but the feeling of No. 10 will always be very special. This also means that there is more responsibility on my shoulders. I hope I can help the team with goals, assists and hard work. This is my focus in this position."
