Spanish online media outlet Relevo's resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, exclusively reported on Wednesday that Austria international defender David Alaba is likely to leave Real Madrid when his contract expires next summer (2026).

According to Moretto, Real Madrid management has not yet informed Alaba that the club does not intend to renew his contract or sell him during the January transfer window, but it is certain that president Florentino Pérez is inclined to part ways with the former Bayern Munich player.

He cited Alaba's recent injuries and advancing age as the primary factors behind Real Madrid's decision to part ways with him. Despite this, Alaba will continue to do his best to change Los Blancos management's mind and secure a contract extension.

Moretto added that after parting ways with Alaba, Real Madrid is expected to make every effort to sign Liverpool's France international defender Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer.

Los Blancos' determination to sign Konaté is well known, and the club will patiently wait for the right time to approach him, just as they did with his former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

If they fail to sign Konate, Real Madrid may turn their attention to his national teammate Dayot Upamecano.

Like Konaté, Upamecano, whose contract expires next summer, could theoretically join Real Madrid on a free transfer. However, this depends on the progress of his contract extension negotiations with Bayern Munich.

As for rumuors claiming that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi is also under consideration, Moretto stated that the authenticity of this cannot be 100% confirmed at this time.

He revealed that the most likely destination for Guéhi remains Liverpool, who had agreed to sign him on the summer transfer window deadline day, but the move fell through due to a sudden change of heart from his club.

Nevertheless, the possibility of Guéhi leaving the Premier League cannot be completely ruled out.

What is certain at this point is that the England international defender will not renew his contract with Crystal Palace after his contract expires next summer.
