The Danish Football Association (DBU) officially announced on Friday that it has extended the contract of 47-year-old national team coach Brian Riemer. The new contract extends the original expiration date of 2026 by two years, until the summer of 2028.

Brian Riemer officially took over as manager of the Danish national team in October 2024, and has led the team to a record of 6 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses so far. His primary task now is to lead Denmark to victory in their two World Cup qualifiers on November 15th and 18th, against Belarus and Scotland respectively.

Currently, Denmark leads Group C in the European qualifiers for the World Cup with 10 points from 3 wins and 1 draw, tied with Scotland on 10 points. They must win at least one of their remaining two matches, or they will lose their advantage in directly qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals.

Regarding the decision to extend Riemer's contract, Danish Football Association Director Peter Müller explained: "I have been closely following Brian's performance with the national team, and he is indeed a top coach. Now, we have secured his long-term commitment with a contract. His leadership and motivation of the players, his courage to innovate and improve the team's strength and tactical style, complement his excellent tactical knowledge. He is approachable and outgoing, able to communicate equally with the Danish people and open up to fans and the media. For this reason, we are very pleased to have successfully completed the contract extension."

Müller added, “Bryan and his coaching staff have further enhanced the national team, enabling us to dominate the game and become more direct and efficient in attack. We can clearly feel the strong approval from the fans and the Danish public. We believe and hope the team will achieve victory in Scotland and qualify directly for the World Cup. However, as the Football Association, we also have a responsibility to look at things from a longer-term perspective, as any unforeseen factors can affect the game. That is why we decided to extend Bryan's contract to ensure his excellent work continues, while maintaining the stability and continuity of the national team.”

Riemer stated, "Being the head coach of the Danish national team is both a great honor and a significant responsibility for me. I thoroughly enjoy my time as national team coach and love fighting alongside the players for the honor of the Danish team and for the fans. I am very grateful to the Danish Football Association for their trust in me and for giving me the full freedom to fulfill my duties in the way I believe is most appropriate."

He concluded by saying, "Right now, our primary task is to qualify for the World Cup and achieve the common goal that we all dream of. After that, we will continue to work hard to improve the team's strength and build a national team full of courage, fighting spirit and passion for Danish fans."
