Dundee officially announces Pressley as new manager

Scottish Premier League team Dundee Football Club officially announced that former Scotland national team defender Steven John Pressley will be the team's new head coach, replacing Tony Docherty who was sacked at the end of the season.

The 51-year-old has coached clubs including Hearts, Falkirk, Coventry, Fleetwood Town and Carlisle United. He recently served in the Premier League Brentford for four years as the head of individual player development. He has not coached the first team since leaving Carlisle United in 2019.

Pressley has a close relationship with Dundee's current technical director Gordon Strachan, having played under him at Celtic as a player.

Dundee club said Pressley emerged as "an ideal candidate with outstanding expertise and extensive experience" following a comprehensive and rigorous selection process.

Managing Director John Nelms said: “We are delighted to welcome Steven Pressley as our new head coach. During his four years at Brentford he has fitted in extremely well with our approach to player development, while also bringing an all-round winning management mindset.

"He will establish a system for the team to work together with the first team and the youth team, which will not only improve the performance on the field, but will also further promote the overall construction of the club."
