West Ham United is currently playing in the Premier League summer series in the United States. After losing 1-2 to Manchester United in the previous game, the team will face Everton, coached by David Moyes, in their second match.
The match will be played at Chicago's landmark Soldier Field, kicking off at 5:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday. West Ham United manager Graham Potter spoke with the media about the upcoming match, the team's goals in the summer series, and the progress of pre-season preparations so far.
"We're really excited to be here," Porter said. "To be playing against Everton at Soldier Field in Chicago, the occasion itself is special. Sometimes you have to stop and think about how special and cool it is."
"Just like the last match against Manchester United, this is not a formality, but a real confrontation with real intensity. This kind of rhythm and challenge will be very helpful for us to prepare for the new season."
Regarding the Summer Series' positioning, Porter revealed that the team hopes to achieve positive results in the remaining two matches: "This phase is of course focused on physical training and tactical refinement, but we also want to win. We are very competitive and hope to have a positive end to this tour."
Porter gave a positive evaluation of the entire preseason: "From Rush Green, to the training camp in Germany, and now to the United States, everyone has been very focused for more than three weeks, and the team atmosphere is also very good."
"The players are very open to the new training concepts and their execution on the field is constantly improving. Everything is going well and everything is moving in the right direction."
As the summer series continues to progress, West Ham United is not only warming up, but also gradually honing its form and building up momentum for the 2025-26 season.
