The NBA officially announced today that Houston Rockets center Alperen Shinkyung will replace Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is out injured, in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game Team World roster.
This will be the Turkish rising star's second consecutive All-Star appearance. In his fifth season, Shin Kyung-won has displayed a dominant all-around performance. So far, he has averaged 20.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and a career-high 6.3 assists in 44 games.
Furthermore, Shen Jing has also made significant progress on the defensive end, averaging 1.41 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Statistics show that Shen Jing is one of only three players in the entire league this season averaging at least 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists per game, alongside fellow All-Stars Nikola Jokic and Jalen Johnson. Under his leadership, the Rockets currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with a 32-19 record.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who was originally scheduled to start, will be unable to play due to an abdominal strain. The Canadian guard has been selected to the All-Star team four times in a row and is the absolute core of the Thunder.
The 75th NBA All-Star Game will be held on February 15, 2026, at the Los Angeles Clippers' new home arena, Intuit Dome. This year's game will feature a new format, with Shin Kyung representing Team International and competing against two American teams (Team Stars and Team Stripes) in a round-robin mini-tournament series of four 12-minute games.
