With goals from Luka Doncic, Austin Reeves, and LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 135-118 in another round of the 2025/26 NBA Cup group stage, extending their winning streak to five games. In an interview, Luka Doncic stated that he and his teammates simply focused on setting the pace for each other during the game and were happy to see the team advance to the next round.
Luka Doncic scored 43 points and dished out 13 assists in the game, Austin Reeves added 31 points and 3 assists, while LeBron James contributed 25 points and 6 assists for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Doncic said, "I think we played a great game. The team's defense was better in the fourth quarter than in the first three quarters, and it's significant to finish the game that way."
When discussing the altercation between Los Angeles Clippers guard Kris Dunn and Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, Luka Doncic said, "I felt a small foul on me from behind, so I couldn't just do nothing, especially with the referee right there. But that's how the game is; sometimes the physical contact gets intense."
Regarding his on-court chemistry with LeBron James and Austin Reeves, Luka Doncic said, "I think we work together very well. LeBron James was very aggressive in the second half, and so was Austin Reeves. We just set the pace for each other. I've never been through the group stage before, so this is something new for me."
