After participating in a period of pre-season friendly matches, Liverpool will face the challenges of the new season. In an interview, Liverpool captain Van Dijk said that no matter whether the future is good or not, the players, staff and fans must support each other and move forward together.
Liverpool will go to Wembley Stadium to challenge Crystal Palace in the Community Shield. After this game, Liverpool will participate in the first round of the 2025/26 Premier League season and officially start the journey of defending the title.
Liverpool captain Van Dijk said, "The players will definitely enter the new season with different goals, to compete for the championship in every competition the team participates in. I think this is the minimum requirement for a club like Liverpool. It will certainly be very difficult, but we have all experienced very difficult times, and I am really looking forward to everything in the new season."
"This is our common goal and the mentality we should have. Whether the days are good or not, we as players, staff and fans must support and accompany each other and move forward together."
Van Dijk also said, "It's an incredible feeling to win any honor with Liverpool. When we won the championship against Tottenham Hotspur, that feeling people call dopamine, it's an indescribable feeling. For me personally, that's the meaning of playing football. I want to leave a mark and be remembered by others, and inspire the next generation with everything I do."
"When I was younger I never imagined I would achieve something like this and that's the beauty of football and life, it's about keeping going and never giving up, and enjoying the journey ahead."
In addition, recalling the process of competing for the championship at a crucial stage last season, Liverpool striker Salah said in an interview, "We had the opportunity to win the Premier League title in advance without playing a game last season, but I am very happy that did not happen. Everyone was in the training center at the time, just waiting for Crystal Palace to beat Arsenal."
"As we sat together I just prayed that it wouldn't happen because we wanted to win it at Anfield. "Everyone can see how special it is for the fans and to win the Premier League at Anfield would be incredible."
Salah continued, "Sometimes we forget the pure joy of playing the game, which is why we play football since we were young. When you play football with joy and pure love, you can achieve great things."
"Today's younger generation of players struggle with social media and the immense pressure. If they want to achieve anything, I think players need to enjoy the game like we did when we were younger."
It is worth mentioning that Liverpool stars McAllister, Salah, Van Dijk and Wirtz are all shortlisted for the 30-man candidate list for the 2025 Ballon d'Or.
Salah also said: "It is an amazing thing to be able to become a legend in a club like Liverpool. This shows that I have worked hard and achieved achievements that many people find difficult to achieve. I am grateful for this."
