On the glorious night when he led his team to the Western Conference Finals, Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams was fined for inappropriate attire.
NBA president of league operations Byron Spruell announced Monday that Williams was fined $25,000 for wearing apparel with vulgar language during his postgame media availability.
The incident occurred on May 18, when the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Denver Nuggets 125-93 in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals and successfully advanced to the Western Conference Finals. Williams scored 24 points in the game and was a key contributor to the team's advancement.
However, during the post-game interview, Williams wore a T-shirt with the words "F--- art lets dance" printed on it, violating the NBA's regulations on media appearance dress code and was eventually fined by the league.
Williams, 23, was selected to the All-Star team for the first time this season and had an outstanding performance in the regular season, averaging 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He was an important force in the Oklahoma City Thunder's sudden rise this season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder also won the best record in the league with 68 wins and 14 losses, becoming one of the favorites to win the championship this season. The team will host the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on May 21 to start the Western Conference Finals series with the latter.
