According to multiple media outlets, including the Miami Herald, USA Today, ESPN, and Fabrizio Romano, contract renewal negotiations between Argentine legend Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are nearing completion. The two sides are expected to extend their contract until at least December 31, 2027, when Messi will be 40 years old.

Messi, 38, joined Inter Miami in July 2023 and his current contract expires at the end of this season. To date, he has made 75 appearances for Inter Miami, scoring 62 goals and providing 30 assists, leading the team to one CONCACAF Champions League and one MLS regular season title.

Messi has played 36 games across all competitions this season, contributing 28 goals and 12 assists. He currently leads the MLS scoring list with 22 goals and has led Inter Miami to fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 15-7 record.

Given Messi's immense influence in MLS, there's widespread anticipation for him to renew his contract as soon as possible. Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano responded, "As I've always said, I hope this can be done as soon as possible. I think this is great news not only for the club, but for the entire MLS."
