Eintracht Frankfurt officially announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways with goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, effective immediately. Trapp has confirmed his next move to newly promoted Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, with a contract until June 30, 2028.

Trapp, 35, was born in Merzig, Germany, and made his senior debut for his parent club, Kaiserslautern, in the German Cup on August 9, 2008. He subsequently moved to Frankfurt and Paris Saint-Germain, winning three Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, three French League Cups, and five French Super Cups with Paris Saint-Germain.

In August 2018, Trapp returned to Frankfurt on a loan-to-buy basis. Including his first spell at Frankfurt, he has made 383 appearances for the club, keeping 89 clean sheets and winning the 2021/22 Europa League.

According to various reports, Trapp's transfer fee is €1 million. His annual salary at Paris Saint-Germain is expected to be similar to his salary at Eintracht Frankfurt, around €3.5 million.

Regarding Trapp's departure, Frankfurt's sports director Markus Kroescher said: "Kevin Trapp's farewell is heartbreaking for all of us - especially for him personally. For many years, he has been an iconic figure, captain and key player for Frankfurt and played a key role in our success. Given his performance and contribution, we naturally respect his transfer wishes. Although Kevin has left the team, he will always be a member of the Frankfurt team and will always be warmly welcomed by us."

Trapp also said with emotion: "Today, my mood is difficult to express in words. I have to carry two emotions at the same time: anticipation and reluctance. I am full of anticipation for the new chapter, but at the same time I feel sad to have to say goodbye to Frankfurt. I was, am, and will always be a member of the Frankfurt team. I grew up and matured in Frankfurt - both as a player and as a person. I love Frankfurt and every corner of the club. My club, I was and will always be one of you. Together we have written a chapter that will forever connect us. A chapter of heart to heart."
