Lille officially announced on Thursday that Turkish international goalkeeper Berk Özer has joined from Eyjusborg on a four-year contract that runs until June 30, 2029.

Ieusberg added that the base fee for the transfer is €4.5 million, which could reach up to €5 million after bonuses are included. Portimão, one of Özer's former clubs, received a 20% secondary transfer commission, worth approximately €900,000.

The official also confirmed that Ozer will wear the No. 1 jersey in Lille.

The 25-year-old Özer came through the youth academy of Altynor and made his first-team debut in the Turkish Super League on April 19, 2017. He subsequently moved to Fenerbahçe, Vesterås and Portimonense before joining Eyjuspor in January 2023.

Due to a lack of playing time, Özer was loaned out to Umraniyaspor in his first season at Eyjuspor. He has since established himself as a regular at Eyjuspor, making 65 appearances and keeping 26 clean sheets.

In March of this year, Özer was selected for the Turkish national team for the first time due to his outstanding performance at the club. He also got two appearances in June.

For Lille, Ozer's arrival is intended to fill the void left by Lucas Chevalier's departure to Paris Saint-Germain. Lille president Olivier Letang commented: "Berck is an experienced young goalkeeper who possesses all the technical and physical qualities expected of a top goalkeeper. He has just made his international debut, which is a great testament to his career, his continued progress, and his recent excellent performances at club level."
