Atalanta announced on Friday that it had officially activated the buyout clause for Leverkusen's on-loan central defender Odilen Kosonu. The two parties signed a four-year contract valid until June 30, 2029.

According to multiple media reports, Atalanta completed the buyout for 25 million euros. The club said in a statement: "The Percasi family, the Pagliuca family and the Nerazzurri are highly satisfied with the transfer transaction completed today and wish Audilen both personal and team success in his future Nerazzurri career."

The 24-year-old Kosonou is from Cote d'Ivoire and played for the Swedish Super League club Hammarby at the beginning of his career. He then moved to Club Brugge and Leverkusen, during which time he played in 12 Champions League games, 22 Europa League games, 34 Belgian League games and 73 Bundesliga games with the team, winning 2 Belgian League titles, 1 Belgian Super Cup title, 1 Bundesliga title, 1 German Cup title and 1 German Super Cup title.

In August 2024, Kosonu joined Atalanta on loan for 5 million euros. So far, he has made 23 appearances in Atalanta, provided 2 assists, and made great contributions to the team's final ranking third in Serie A.
