Official: Barcelona extends contract with 35-year-old goalkeeper Szczesny until 2027

Barcelona announced on Monday that it has renewed the contract with Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. The new contract extends the existing contract by two years and expires on June 30, 2027.
Wojciech Szczesny, 35, trained with Agricola Warsaw and Legia Warsaw in Poland, and moved to England in 2006 to join Arsenal U18. On September 22, 2009, he made his professional debut in a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the League Cup at the age of 19.
As of August 2024, when he announced his retirement, Szczesny had played for Arsenal, Brentford, Roma and Juventus at the club level, completing 224 clean sheets in 578 games in each line, winning 2 FA Cups, 1 Community Shield, 3 Serie A titles, 3 Italian Cups and 2 Italian Super Cups with the team. He also played 84 times for the Polish national team, including 4 European Cups (2012, 2016, 2021, 2024) and 2 World Cups (2018, 2022).
In October 2024, Szczesny returned to join Barcelona due to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's complete rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee. So far, he has played 30 times for Barcelona, kept 14 clean sheets, and won the La Liga championship, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup with the team.
