Inter Miami officially announced on Wednesday that they have extended Luis Suarez's contract for another year. This means Suarez will continue to play alongside Messi in MLS until December 31, 2026.

Since joining Inter Miami in January 2024, the 38-year-old Suarez has made 87 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 42 goals and providing 30 assists. In his first season in MLS, he helped Inter Miami win their first-ever Supporters' Shield (MLS regular season title), and the following year they went on to win both the MLS Eastern Conference title and the MLS Cup.

As one of Uruguay's top center forwards of the 21st century, Suarez boasts an exceptionally illustrious career. Before joining Inter Miami, he played for Nacional Montevideo, Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Grêmio, winning 3 Uruguayan First Division titles, 1 Dutch Eredivisie title, 1 Dutch Cup title, 1 English League Cup title, 1 UEFA Champions League title, 1 FIFA Club World Cup title, 4 La Liga titles, 1 UEFA Super Cup title, 4 Copa del Rey titles, 2 Spanish Super Cup titles, and 1 Rio Grande do Sul title in Brazil.

On the international stage, Suarez has also achieved remarkable results. By the time he ends his international career in September 2024, he will have played for Uruguay for 17 years, making 142 appearances, contributing 69 goals and 39 assists, and winning the Copa America as a key player for the team in 2011.

Suarez was once very close to returning to Nacional in Montevideo, but he ultimately chose to stay in Miami over returning home. With his contract extension now in effect, Suarez may be nearing the end of his career at Inter Miami.
