Crystal Palace officially announced on Wednesday that it will part ways with Jeffrey Schlupp, whose contract expires this summer. As for Schlupp's next stop, it is still unknown.
It is reported that Celtic and Leicester City are both interested in signing Schlupp.
Jeffrey Schlupp, 32, was born in Hamburg, Germany, and moved to the UK with his family when he was young. He came from the Leicester City youth training system and made his first-team debut on loan at Brentford on March 15, 2011.
In January 2017, Schlupp moved from Leicester City to Crystal Palace for 13.8 million euros. He played for Crystal Palace for nine seasons, during which he served as central midfielder, left midfielder, left back, left winger and other positions, making 247 appearances in all lines, contributing 19 goals and 17 assists, and won an FA Cup with the team.
However, Schlupp was loaned to Celtic after playing 16 games for Crystal Palace this season. He played a total of 18 games for Celtic, scored 1 goal and assisted 1 time, helping the team win a Scottish Premier League title.
Regarding Schlupp's departure, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said: "In the nine seasons he spent at Crystal Palace, Jeffrey contributed a lot to the club and scored many wonderful goals! No matter what role he was given, no matter when and where, he always gave his all. He has performed well under different systems and coaches, which is enough to say it all."
“Successful teams are built on players of both quality and character like Jeffrey. He leaves SE25 with our heartfelt gratitude and the best wishes from everyone at Crystal Palace.”
Later, Schlupp expressed his sincere gratitude to Crystal Palace through a statement: "The eight years I played for Crystal Palace were incredible. I met many excellent people - the chairman, the coach and all the staff - and playing for Crystal Palace meant a lot to me. I sincerely thank this team. It is you and I who have created such an extraordinary achievement together."
"Everyone knows what a great atmosphere the Crystal Palace fans can create at home and how many times they have helped us get through difficult times. They are our 12th man - thank you to all the fans who have always supported me."
"I hope I made you guys proud. We'll definitely see you soon!"
