The 18-year-old Cooper Flagg has won the favor of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2025 NBA Draft with his outstanding performance, and has become the second youngest No. 1 pick in history after LeBron James in 2003. PJ Washington said in an interview that Cooper Flagg will have the opportunity to become a special presence in the team and looks forward to working with this new teammate.
Cooper Flagg from Maine played 31 games for Duke University in the 2024/25 season, averaging 19.2 points per game and a 3-point shooting percentage of 38.5%. His performance was outstanding, and the shooting guard will wear the No. 32 jersey in the new NBA season.
Dallas Mavericks power forward PJ Washington said, "I think Cooper Flagg is really outstanding and a very good player. He will have the opportunity to grow into a special player in Dallas. I am very happy that he will have the opportunity to play alongside Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and other teammates. Everyone is excited, the whole city is looking forward to it, and we are already looking forward to him coming here."
"He has elite ability in almost every aspect, which is what makes him special for his age. He has excellent wingspan and height and can play a role on both offense and defense, which is exactly the type of player teams want."
In addition, PJ Washington also said, "We have an excellent team with many players who are eager to win and keep working hard. I think these extensions are very necessary. Kyrie Irving is a great player, and so is Daniel Gafford."
“These players are so important to our team, especially with Cooper Flagg this year, and I can’t wait to play with everyone.”
