The 27-year-old goalkeeper has joined Newcastle on a season-long loan from Southampton and says he is looking forward to working with manager Eddie Howe again.
Ramsdale, who previously played for Arsenal, joined Southampton in August 2024 and played 30 games for the Saints in the 2024/25 Premier League season.
When talking about the feeling of joining Newcastle, Ramsdale shared in an interview, “It’s great to be here. I have always loved this stadium and I have seen the passion and cheers of the fans. I have always loved playing at St. James’ Park. Although my record here is not too good, when the fans support this team, it is really unparalleled.”
It is worth mentioning that Ramsdale was coached by Eddie Howe when he played for Bournemouth in the 2019/20 season.
Ramsdale said: "It is very attractive for me to work with the manager and his coaching staff again. They have had a great influence on my career. The manager has trained me from a youngster to a professional player during his time at Bournemouth and taught me a lot. He and the coaching staff are one of the key reasons that prompted me to come here."
In addition, Eddie Howe said, "Ramsdale is an excellent goalkeeper. His joining will add more strength and international competition experience to the team. I have worked with him before and know what he can bring on and off the court, so we are looking forward to him integrating into the team as soon as possible."
