Leicester City announced on its official website on Monday that Real Betis' Spanish goalkeeper Fran Vieites has joined the club as a free agent after terminating his contract.

According to the EFL Championship club's official statement, Vieiters has on signed a short-term two-year deak with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.

In addition, according to Spanish online media outlet Relevo's resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, Vieites had only just extended his contract with Betis in February of last year, but was dissatisfied with former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian's excellent form, which forced him to sit on the bench for the second half of last season, that he began to consider leaving.

After completing his joining procedures, Vieites, who was interviewed by the Leicester City official website for the first time, said: "This is a very important step in my career. I'm very happy to join this strong club and I'm eager to get to work, meet my teammates, and try to enjoy our first three points."

Vieites, 26, was born on May 7, 1999, in Pontecesures, Galicia, Spain. He is 1.96 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Vieites played for the youth academy of non-league club Bertamiráns as a child and completed his Bertamiráns first-team debut by coming on as a substitute at the age of 15, breaking records, but later returned to the youth academy to continue his development.

In the summer of 2015, Vieites joined Celta Vigo's youth academy and began playing for their B team in 2018.

In September 2020, Vieites joined Lugo on a free transfer.

In July 2022, Vieites joined Real Betis on a free transfer.

During his three-year spell with Los Verdiblancos, Vieites made 20 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga powerhouse, conceding 23 goals, keeping six clean sheets, and reaching the UEFA Conference League final once with the club.
