In the third round of the 2025-26 Premier League, Sunderland relied on its tenacious fighting spirit and team spirit to defeat Brentford 2-1, winning two consecutive home victories and earning 6 points in the first three rounds of the new season.

Sunderland won thanks to an Enzo Lefevre penalty and a late goal from Wilson Isidore. Afterwards, manager Régis Le Bris praised his team's performance.

Le Bris said: "I'm very happy that we fought to the end. The team showed resilience in two completely different halves. We controlled the situation in the first half, and although the second half was chaotic, we handled it well, which is a positive sign."

Le Bris singled out Isidore for special praise for the winning goal: "It's been an incredible two days for him and his family. Premier League games are full of subtle differences, and any extra energy can change the game, and that was exactly the case today."

"We need everyone. Enzo didn't start the first two games and was a little disappointed, but he has been working hard. He started today and scored a penalty, showing his commitment and value. Everyone can change the game at the critical moment."

This comeback not only allowed Sunderland to continue its strong home form, but also built confidence at the start of the season. Sunderland is currently ranked 6th in the Premier League standings and will next face Crystal Palace away on September 13.
